Injector Size (lb/hr) = (HP × BSFC) / (Cylinders × Duty Cycle)

Definitions

  • BSFC: Amount of fuel consumed per unit of power produced. Naturally aspirated engines are more efficient (0.45-0.5) than forced induction (0.60-0.65).
  • Duty Cycle: The percentage of time the injector is open. It is unsafe to run injectors at 100% static duty; 80% is the safe limit.
