Hooke's Law Formula

Hooke's Law states that the force needed to extend or compress a spring by some distance scales linearly with respect to that distance.

$$ F = -kx $$

  • F: Restoring Force (N) - usually negative, but magnitude is often used.
  • k: Spring Constant (N/m)
  • x: Displacement form equilibrium (m)
