How to Simplify Fractions

To reduce a fraction to its lowest terms:

  1. Find the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) of the numerator and denominator.
  2. Divide both the top and bottom numbers by the GCD.

Example: 10/20 ÷ 10 = 1/2.

Converting Decimals to Fractions

To convert a decimal like 0.75 to a fraction:

  1. Write it as 0.75/1.
  2. Multiply top and bottom by 100 to remove the decimal: 75/100.
  3. Simplify by dividing by 25: 3/4.

Multiplying & Dividing Fractions

  • Multiply: Multiply numerators together and denominators together. Simplify if needed.
  • Divide: Flip the second fraction (reciprocal) and then multiply.
