Converting Time Units
Time calculations can be tricky because time is not decimal based (it uses base 60). This means you cannot simply add .30 to 1.30 to get 2 hours.
How to Add Time Manually
- Add the seconds together. If > 60, subtract 60 and carry 1 minute.
- Add the minutes together. If > 60, subtract 60 and carry 1 hour.
- Add the hours together.
Example: 1:30:45 + 0:45:20
- Seconds: 45 + 20 = 65 (1 min, 5 sec)
- Minutes: 30 + 45 + 1 (carry) = 76 (1 hr, 16 min)
- Hours: 1 + 0 + 1 (carry) = 2
- Result: 2:16:05
