Planning Your Deck
Calculating the right amount of decking prevents delays and reduces waste. Remember that decking boards have a nominal size vs. actual size (e.g., a "1x6" is actually 5.5 inches wide).
Fasteners
For standard face-screwing, estimate roughly 3.5 screws per square foot (assuming 16" joist spacing). For hidden fastener clips, you'll generally need 1 clip per joist intersection (approx 1.75 per sq ft).
